The Young Portonian Theatre Company was founded in 1982. The aim of the the company is to encourage and promote amateur theatre amongst young people in Grangemouth, Scotland.
Membership is achieved by auditions which are held twice a year and is open to young people aged 10 – 17 who are resident or attend school in Grangemouth.
Rehearsals are held during term time in Moray Primary School on Monday evenings with extra rehearsals on Tuesday evenings prior to performances.
The company has performed 26 annual pantomimes and numerous Musicals including Oliver, Jungle Book, The Wizard of Oz and Bugsy Malone.
The company also enjoys the challenge of competitive drama and regularly competes in the Scottish Community Drama Association One Act Play Festival with various degrees of success.
As well as Productions the Company, which averages 55 members, hold theatre workshops allowing members to develop theatrical and stage skills.
